Foxen Canyon’s Andrew Murray Vineyards is fresh and alive with small lot Syrahs and enticing Rhône blends. Formerly Curtiss Winery, Andrew Murray has leased the vineyards from long-time family friends, the Firestone family, and has tastefully remodeled the tasting room, making it a must-stop along the wine trail.
Andrew Murray Vineyards‘ focus will remain on Rhône varieties, with an emphasis on Syrah, Mourvèdre, Viognier, Grenache Blanc and Roussanne.
“Come see what we can do in this new home with expanded winemaking capacity, and access to additional Estate Grown vineyards.”
Andrew Murray, Winemaker
Think light, dry, perfect summer wine and the 2014 Espérance Rosé is sure to please. This artfully crafted Rosé is done in a European style, with a blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvedre, and Syrah. Or the 2013 Enchanté, a white Rhône blend of Roussane and Grenache Blanc, with melon and stone fruit notes, zesty acidity and a touch of minerality.
Another Rhône style favorite is the 2013 Grenache, a youthful, aromatic off-dry easy-drinking wine with wafts of strawberry on the nose. Wind up the tasting with the 2013 Syrah Alisos Vineyard, a classic cool climate Syrah, big and bold with black fruit lusciousness in a glass.
