Fess Parker Winery Is Grandiose In Every Way

June 21, 2013 by Deborah Mines

When it comes to Fess Parker Winery & Vineyard, nothing is understated!  The grounds are perfectly manicured and stretch endlessly in all directions.  Weddings are commonplace here and dogs are welcome!

Baby boomers will recall that Fess Parker was an American film icon in the 1950’s and 1960’s, playing the roles of frontiersmen Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett.

Fess Parker passed away in 2010, and the winery is now run by another Parker generation.  The award-winning wine list is commendable, however the tasting menu is somewhat limited.  For a small fee, you can purchase the crystal wine glasses with the etched raccoon skin cap! (my all-time favorite wine glasses!)

Fess Parker’s Winery & Vineyard’s tasting lineup features two white wines ~ the 2011 Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard and the 2010 Viognier, both which are crisp, with hints of fruit.

There are four red wines — two Pinot Noirs, the 2010 Pinot Noir, Santa Rita Hills and the 2009 Pinot Noir, Ashley’s, followed by the 2011 Syrah, Santa Barbara County, and lastly, the acclaimed 2010 The Big Easy, a big bold Syrah, Petit Sirah, Grenache Blend — easy does it –this one boasts a 16% alcohol content!  Perfect for those long winter nights in California, or not….     www.fessparkerwine.com

Hey Cindy! Fess Parker Winery is “alive and well” in Los Olivos, one hour from Santa Barbara. He was quite the looker in his time. You need to come visit again! My friend Jan says that there are a few wineries in Central Oregon. If you want to write a piece and send some photos, you can be a guest blogger on my site! Great to hear from you dear girl!
