Demetria Estate is truly a sight to behold! Visitors must call ahead for an appointment, then find the hidden wooden sign off Foxen Canyon Road, buzz the gate, then head up the narrow, winding scenic road for about two miles.
Absolutely blissful scenery at every turn! Just when you think you can’t go any further, a stately Mediterranean-type chateau rises to meet you, which seems a little out of character on the rustic Foxen Canyon Wine Trail. However, Demetria Estate‘s chateau’s colors are as welcoming and warm, as the Zahoudanis family.
Established in 2005, Demetria Estate is a family owned winery on over 200 acres, with 45 acres of vines. Demetria Estate produces two distinctive wine portfolios ~ Burgundian varietals and Rhone-style blends. Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc comprise the Burgundian wines grown in the nearby Santa Rita Hills.
The red Rhone blends, Syrah, Mourvedre and Grenache, are estate grown, biodynamically farmed and styled after the famous Chateauneuf du Pape in the Southern Rhone region of France. The white Rhone wines are blends of Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne, and Grenache Blanc.
Relax on the shaded patio and contemplate life with a glass of the aromatic 2013 Rose Grenache, a dazzling crisp burst of strawberry, gala apple and crab apple ~ perfect for lazy summer afternoon daydreaming. Equally delightful and pensive, is the 2012 Viognier with undertones of white peach, citrus, lychee nut and honeysuckle.
Demetria Estate’s 2011 Pantheon is 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 15% Mourvedre with 5% white Rhone grapes, for a soft and smooth finish. Artfully crafted, this stellar GSM shines of bright cherry, raspberry and cassis with anise and black tea spices and a hint of tobacco and white pepper.
Demetria Estate is known for great hospitality and personalized service. WIne Club members can reserve the two bedroom guest house on the hill for a Summer Movie in the Vineyard Night or for weddings and special events. For an unforgettable experience, visit www.demetriaestate.com
