What two things blend better than great wine and contemporary art? Add a little live music and you have a winning trio! Lorimar Vineyard & Winery in Temecula’s Wine Country is one of the newest additions to the valley and is at the top of the charts!

IMG_5938Family owned, Lorimar follows a Tuscan theme with Sangiovese being one of the primary grapes grown. Other varietals grown on the 22 acre estate are Syrah, Grenache, Muscat, Viognier and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Lorimar specializes in red wine blends that will have you singing a high note!

All the wines are named after musical terms and the bottles are very “notably” designed keeping with the nouveau art collections displayed throughout the tasting rooms.

There is also a tasting room in Old Town Temecula, but the showcase winery is in the heart of the wine country. Both offer live music and special wine events and stay open late on the weekends.

Tastings are $18 for 6 tastes of what is perhaps the best and most uniquely handcrafted wines in the Temecula Wine Country! I highly recommend the 2010 Lydian, a luscious Cabernet Franc, with hints of black currant and plum, anise, violets and gooseberry, blended with a small amount of estate grown Syrah for added depth and balance.

Another favorite is the 2010 Vivace, an estate Sangiovese blended with Cabernet Franc and Merlot, tasting of cherry and raspberry with soft tannins and an extremely smooth finish. If white wine is your fancy, the 2011 Viognier is delightful with whispers of honeysuckle, peach and melon undertones with a slight acidic finish or try the California Sparkling Wine, which is refreshing anytime. www.lorimarwinery.com
